An ex army MP has marched on the Ministry of Defence today to try and save a battalion of soldiers from the Yorkshire Regiment which is under threat of the axe.
Dan Jarvis, who served with the paras in Iraq and Afghanistan is now a member of Parliament in Barnsley. He headed for Whitehall today with other MPs from the regiment's recruiting ground armed with a letter to the Defence secretary.
He, and others, are convinced the third batallion the Yorkshire regiment which has suffered major losses will go in the latest round of government cuts. David Hirst has the story.
