Heart unit latest: Calls to put off today's decision
Critics have said a simultaneous review into heart surgery services for children AND adults should be held and that a decision on children's heart units should be delayed to carry out such a joint review.
Professor Roger Boyle CBE (adviser to JCPCT) dismissed that, recommending a decision is made today: "We cannot afford to wait another two years to make these changes. I thoroughly recommend coming to a decision today. It is not the buildings that save lives, it's the people within them."
