Gary Thornton to succeed Chris Thorman at York

Former Batley coach Gary Thornton will succeed Chris Thorman at York next season. Thornton, who is currently in charge of Castleford's Under-20s team, has signed a two-year contract to take over from Thorman, who is leaving to join Huddersfield's backroom staff.

"I am absolutely delighted to be back as a head coach with York City Knights. "This is a club I have always admired. There are some exciting times ahead with the move to the new stadium and I am honoured to be a part of that."
