Campaigners trying to save a children's heart unit in Yorkshire have secured a meeting with the man who proposed its closure.
Sir Neil McKay, chairman of the Joint Committee of Primary Care Trusts will travel to Yorkshire to hear the concerns of those against plans that could leave Yorkshire patients travelling to Newcastle, Liverpool or Birmingham for treatment.
Councillor Jim Clark will speak on behalf of North Yorkshire at the meeting.
"Closing the LGI unit would be a serious blow for the whole region".
"Securing a personal appearence with Sir Neil gives us some hope that we will be able to demonstrate how misguided the proposal is."
