Man punched unconscious after chasing fuel thief

North Yorkshire police has launched an investigation after a Selby man was attacked while chasing another man who had stolen fuel from a petrol station. The 22-year-old victim had finished filling his car with petrol when he noticed a man filling up a can with petrol that he did not pay for.

The victim followed the man and confronted him at which point he was punched unconcisous by a second man. Both men fled towards Selby in white van. The victim suffered a broken cheekbone, broken tooth and other injuries. It happened at the Jet garage on Bawtry Road.
