Yorkshire soldiers repatriated

The bodies of two soldiers from 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment are to be brought home today. Sergeant Gareth Thursby and Private Thomas Wroe were shot dead in Afghanistan on Saturday by a man dressed in the uniform of the Afghan local police.

Bishop of Wakefield's condolences to Pvt Thomas Wroe

The Bishop of Wakefield has paid his condolences to Private Thomas Wroe, one of the two soldiers who were killed in Afghanistan on Saturday. 18 year old Private Wroe is being repatriated alongside Sergeant Gareth Thursby.

"This death will devastate the families and friends of those involved and the local community of Meltham. My prayers and condolences are with all those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. The Church will be doing all it can to support the communities and people affected."
