Leeds man convicted of attempted rape

A 27-year old man has been sentenced to and indertiminate prison sentence and will serve a minimum of three years behind bars after being convicted of attempted rape.

Jonathon O'Hare, from Leeds, attacked a 26-year old woman as she jogged along the Leeds-Liverpool canal near to Whitehall Road on June 17.

Detective Chief Inspector Scott Wood,from West Yorkshire Police, said: "Jonathan O'Hare is a dangerous individual who carried out a determined attack on a young lady.

"There is no doubt it would have progressed futher if it wasn't for the victim fighting back and a gentleman passer by who had the courage to intervene, the police are grateful for their actions. "
