Villagers celebrate turbine blow
People living in the East Yorkshire village of Bempton are celebrating after plans for two wind turbine schemes have been dealt blows.
The plan for 20.3m high turbine on higher ground to the south of the village was withdraw after an objection by the Ministry of Defence.
– David Hinde, Village campaign groupThis application had been made in the full knowledge that the host community in Bempton had clearly stated by the level of objections that they are not prepared to see their countryside views and character of this Flamborough Heritage Coast village significantly & detrimentally altered by the approval of additional turbines in and around the entrances to the villages.
The MoD also objected to building a 24.5m turbine within the Flamborough Heritage Coast Protection Area.
– Alan Mclean, Bempton residentThe community remains determined to protect our village, neighbouring villages and the Heritage Coast. Our combined team effort involving much time and energy and considerable expense has definitely made a difference in the continuing fight against the cash-fuelled turbine invasion.
