Dancing lecture for Parkinson's research in Chesterfield

A lecturer who is leading research into how dance can help with the symptoms of Parkinson's disease will give an "illustrated lecture" in Chesterfield today.

Sara Houston, from the University of Roehampton, collaborating with the English National Ballet, is investigating the potential physical, social and mental benefits of dance for people with the movement disorder.

Dr Houston’s research highlights remarkable success in helping people with Parkinson's with movement control, flexibility and balance. Participants who have difficulty walking are discovering they can dance and are gaining new-found confidence.
