From today people who need to pick up undelivered parcels and letters in Bingley will have to make their way to the Eldwick Post Office on Otley Road.
The decision has been criticised by locals, particularly those who use public transport, because it adds distance and costs to many people.
It's the first of three closures in the area, announced by Royal Mail earlier this year. Shipley and Thornton collection offices are also set to close early next year.
Royal Mail says it had to make the changes to improve services and the chosen sites were most suitable in terms of space.
