Liberal Democrats in Rotherham have selected Michael Beckett as the party's candidate to fight to forthcoming by-election.
Mr Beckett, 37, was chosen from a shortlist of candidates by local party members and is a former manager for the Citizens Advice Bureau.
After his selection, he said: “I am honoured to have been chosen to fight Rotherham for the Liberal Democrats in the by-election. If I win my fight will be for the residents of the constituency not for any vested interests like other parties.
"I would use my professional background to make a real difference for Rotherham and its residents. I am looking forward to the campaign and meeting more of the local community.”
