Jane Collins has been selected as the UK Independence Party's candidate to fight the Rotherham by-election.
She has acted as political agent and campaign manger for the party in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.
This afternoon she said: "Rotherham has many problems that are not being addressed either by Labour, nor by the coalition which makes promise after promise which it cannot keep.
“The people of Rotherham deserve better. Rotherham has one of the fastest rising levels of youth unemployment in Britain. Recent figures show there's been a 400% change in the number of 18 to 24 year olds claiming job seeker allowance in Rotherham."
England should have a 'regional government for the North', a West Yorkshire MP has claimed.
MPs from the region have clashed in the Commons over calls to allow 16 and 17-year-olds to vote.
Ministers deny claims by a Yorkshire MP that talks aimed at securing affordable insurance cover for flood risk homes are 'in disarray'.
