Hull rally drivers race their way to fulfill dream

Mark Sharpley and John Everard with their Alfa Romeo Sprint GT

A local businessman and an accountant will be in the driving seat this weekend as one of the most prestigious car rallies in the country gets underway.

Driver John Everard, from JD Garage Equipment, is fulfilling his ambition to complete the Roger Albert Clark Rally before he turns 60.

The gruelling three-day event is one of the biggest motor sports events on the calendar and attempts to re-ignite the nostalgia of the old RAC rally.

John is a seasoned rally driver and will be taking part with co-driver Mark Sharpley, from Smailes Goldie Chartered Accountants in the city.

Driving their vintage Alfa Romeo Sprint GT, they hope to speed through to the finish line over the weekend.

This year the Rally is at the former Pickering Showground, now the Ryedale Exhibition and Leisure Village, which is the start point for the opening spectator stage in Dalby Forest.
