Children hurt in hit-and-run in Sheffield

Police are appealing for witnesses after two children were injured during a collision in Sheffield.

At 5pm on Saturday, a red vehicle turned into Hinde Street from Robey Street, when it's thought the vehicle began to reverse and collided with two children who were crossing the road behind the vehicle.

It is believed the vehicle failed to stop and left the scene, travelling back onto Robey Street.

The children, a seven-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, were taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The boy has a suspected broken ankle and the girl a broken right ankle, chipped tooth and minor grazes.

Anyone with information should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.
