Woman and child hit by train
A woman and and a child have been seriously hurt after their car was hit by a train at a railway crossing in Finningley, South Yorkshire. The child has been airlifted to hospital. It is not thought any passengers on the train, a Lincoln to Doncaster service, were injured.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said officers were called to the rail line at Beech Hill crossing, Spring Road, at Finningley following a report of a train striking a car.
The train is damaged but has remained upright and on the tracks. Passengers have been removed from it.
