A woman and and a child have been seriously hurt after their car was hit by a train at a railway crossing in Finningley, South Yorkshire. The child has been airlifted to hospital. It is not thought any passengers on the train, a Lincoln to Doncaster service, were injured.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said officers were called to the rail line at Beech Hill crossing, Spring Road, at Finningley following a report of a train striking a car.
The train is damaged but has remained upright and on the tracks. Passengers have been removed from it.
Officers are working to establish more specifics about the incident about the incident and will provide updates as soon as any further information is available.”

The men, all aged 19, were arrested on Tuesday.
