Inquiry launched into bingo pay-outs to Wakefield prisoners

The Government has launched an investigation into bosses at Wakefield's top security jail handing out thousands of pounds to inmates in bingo prize money.

The jail, which holds some of Britain's most notorious killers has paid out more than £4000 in cash prizes to prisoners playing bingo behind bars.

Prison chiefs say the prizes encourage inmates to take part in "regime activities" but Prisons Minister Jeremy Wright has launched a probe into paying prisoners cash prizes.
