Criticism of campaign to bring back stands

A former special constable, who was on duty on the day of the Hillsborough disaster, has criticised a campaign to try to bring standing areas back to football grounds. Ninety six people died in the tragedy, which later led to the introduction of all-seater stadiums.

The Football Supporters Federation is now calling for new standing technology, called rail seats, to be trialled at certain clubs. The campaign has the backing of Hull City and Doncaster Rovers - but not that of former South Yorkshire special constable, Debra Martin.
