A man has been seriously injured after being in a collision in Rotherham. It happened when a van, driven by a 52-year-old man from Thrybegh, was travelling downhill on Gibbing Greaves Road towards the junction with Brecks Crescent, and skidded due to icy road conditions crashing into a wall.
The driver got out of the van and was then hit by another car which had also hit a patch of ice. Then the driver of a third vehicle got out, to help the injured man, when he saw his van slipping towards them.
It is believed he had to stand in the path of the van to stop it running over the injured man on the ground. The 52-year-old man was to Rotherham District hospital suffering broken bones.
