Flats in Harrogate evacuated as building partially collapses

A number of residents have been forced out of their homes after the gable end of a four-storey block of flats partially collapsed in Harrogate. 12 people were moved from the terraced block in Park View, in the town centre, on Saturday evening, when rubble from the gable end damaged the gas supply.

Fire crews say the collapse was caused by "weathering." After inspections by fire crews, engineers and gas inspectors, all but the top floor residents were allowed home.
