Police appeal after man dies in Rotherham

Police are appealing for information after a 24-year-old man died this morning in Rotherham.It happened around 3.20am, the 24-year-old man, was on the motorway bridge at junction 1 on the M18 southbound. Police say it appears he jumped off the bridge onto the road below.

He landed in lane two of the motorway and was struck by a Ford Fiesta, driven by a 29-year-old woman. The man from Bramley in Rotherham sustained fatal injuries.

The 29-year-old woman was from Killingworth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She was not hurt in the accident. Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man on the bridge to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 180 of 29 December.
