Murder suspect in police custody

A 71-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of Julia Thurgarland in Nottinghamshire is now in police custody where he is due to be questioned by detectives.

Mrs Thurgarland, who was 70 years old, was found strangled at her home, Low Farm, in Maplebeck, near Southwell, on Friday 28th December.

The man arrested was found injured in the house and taken to Lincoln Hospital where he remained until Wednesday evening.

He has now been discharged from the hospital and transferred to a police station where he is due to be questioned.
