Barnsley close in on new manager

Barnsley are hoping to appoint a new manager in time for next week's game against Leeds United. The Reds - who are bottom of the Championship after winning just one of their last 14 games - sacked Keith Hill last weekend.

They've drawn up a shortlist, and say the interviewing process has already started.

Former Nottingham Forest and Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll was an early favourite, but it's thought he could be lined up to take over at Wolves instead.

Meanwhile Hill's assistant David Flitcroft will be in temporary charge for the FA Cup 3rd round clash against Burnley. He hasn't applied for the job, but - speaking at the club's weekly News Conference - he said he'd like to be considered for the job.
