Benefits reinstated for ex RAF worker with heart failure

A former RAF police dog handler from Lincoln, who suffers from heart failure, has had his benefits reinstated after challenging the Department for Work and Pensions.

Alex Smith was deemed 'fit to work' following a medical, despite having to be constantly linked up to a machine to stay alive.

"If this machine fails it's game over, I'm dead. For people to think that I want to take money from the state, that I don't want to work, winds me up"
