A funding crisis in the arts is affecting some of the best-know organisations in our region, including one of the most famous brass bands in the world.
Some organisations have already made cuts, to keep theatres and ballet alive in the region, and many are struggling to find supporters as the recession bites.
Among the more high-profile victims of sponsorship cuts in Grimethorpe Colliery Band , which was the inspiration for the film "Brassed Off" . Without funding the ensemble could soon be playing for the last time.
