A North Yorkshire MP is calling for fairer health funding in the county.
Anne McIntosh, MP for Thirsk and Malton, met with Minister for Health Dr Dan Poulter today to request a review into the funding formula.
The funding allocation figure shows that per head of population North Yorkshire receives substantially less than other urban parts of Yorkshire and less even than neighbouring counties like Cumbria.
This shortfall hampers efficient use of Community Hospitals such as the Lambert, St Monica’s, Malton Hospital and the Friarage as well as the provision of health care through GPs and community nurses.
England should have a 'regional government for the North', a West Yorkshire MP has claimed.
MPs from the region have clashed in the Commons over calls to allow 16 and 17-year-olds to vote.
Ministers deny claims by a Yorkshire MP that talks aimed at securing affordable insurance cover for flood risk homes are 'in disarray'.
