Aid worker from York shortlisted for humanitarian award

An aid worker from York who was killed in Pakistan last year has bee shortlisted for a humanitarian award.

60-year-old Khalil Dale, who has family near Wetherby, was working with the Red Cross when he was abducted at gunpoint in January. His body was found in April.

He had made Scotland his home and has now been shortlisted for the Robert Burns Humanitarian Award, which recognises those who have saved or improved the lives of others, through personal self-sacrifice or charitable work.
