The maternity unit at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston s to relax its rules on partners staying overnight with new mums.
For the first time, women’s partners will be allowed to stay with them overnight in the maternity unit. This will happen from Friday 1 February.
– Bev Pearson, Maternity ward Sister
We wanted to ensure that partners could be present to support the ladies during their stay in hospital both before and after the birth of the baby, including helping the women to care for the baby overnight when it is most difficult for them. This means that they can stay more as a family unit rather than the partner being sent off home in the evening.
We will be providing comfy chairs by every bedside for the partners to stay in.
