Police say the man who was killed in a crash on the A1(M) near Doncaster this morning was 47 and came from Leeds. The lorry he was driving collided with another lorry that was involved in the multi-vehicle pile-up close to Marr, Doncaster.
The first crash between a silver car and a lorry happened just after 6:10am and left part of the carriageway blocked. The driver of another HGV pulled over to help those involved in the first crash and his vehicle was then hit by the white lorry driven by the man who died.
Two passengers from the dead man's vehicle are being treated for life-threatening injuries. They are a 58 year old man from Redditch and a 35 year old man from Bedford. Police have arrested the 26 year old driver of the silver car from Doncaster on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
