Protesters have gathered outside the Guildhall in Hull as councillors discuss proposals to axe six hundred jobs.
The Authority says the measures are in response to a five-year reduction in government funding, which will drop by £80 million by 2015.
The council is also reviewing a number of services including the closure of three customer service centres and increasing the cost of meals on wheels. The council said it hoped to minimise compulsory redundancies.
