Protest planned ahead of Lincoln council's budget meeting

Protesters are planning to gather outside the Guildhall in Lincoln ahead of tonight's full meeting of the City of Lincoln Council. They will lobby members as they arrive to discuss a possible 1.9% council tax increase and set the council's spending budget for the forthcoming year.

Members of the Lincoln Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition say they support councils in refusing to pass on cuts following reductions in central government funding. They are angry at proposals including cutting funding for the Walk and Ride bus, Lincoln Drill Hall and other community projects.
