The RSPCA has tonight welcomed a jail sentence for a man from Derbyshire who illegally caught and sold wild birds.
Russell Yates, from Tibshelf, was sent to prison for 18 weeks after admitting a string of cruelty offences. The RSPCA said the catching and selling of birds was a widespread problem, with criminals selling them undercover for profit.
Chris Kiddey reports.
