Man sentenced for samurai sword incident

A man has been given a 12 month community order after being sentenced for affray. Edward Claughan, appeared in court after waving a samurai sword at neighbours from his back garden in the Braithwaite area of Keighley in October last year.

The judge acknowledged that Mr Claughan never left his back garden but said nevertheless anyone passing by would have felt a risk of escalating violence. Claughan who appeared at Bradford Crown Court today, was also required to attend a 6 month alcohol treatment course.
