Fatal collision in Whitby - appeal for witnesses

North Yorkshire Police is renewing an appeal for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Whitby.

They are also trying trace a man called Mark, who is believed to live in Whitby and was a friend of Mr Darren Stawman, who died as a result.

The collision occurred near Mickleby on the A174, at the junction with the B1266, at 8.30pm on March 24.

A grey Alfa Romeo 147 car was travelling from Staithes towards Whitby when the collision happened.

“The investigation has revealed Mr Stawman’s movements over on Friday and Saturday. However we are seeking any information that can assist with Mr Stawman’s movements between 9.30am and 8.30pm on Sunday 24 March 2013, when the collision occurred.

“I am particularly keen to trace his friend, Mark, who I believe lives in Whitby and was in contact with Mr Stawman. I urge Mark to contact me.”
