Court told strangers killed piper

A talented young piper was killed by a stranger when he was stabbed 11 times on a village street, a jury has been told.

Craig Hepburn, 19, had only arrived in Marsden, West Yorkshire hours earlier to visit his uncle when he was attacked along with his friend Connor Paton, 18, Leeds Crown Court heard.

Both young men had travelled from their home in Linwood, near Paisley, Renfrewshire, just before they were stabbed as they walked back from a night out on Friday July 6 last year.

Details of the attack were outlined to the jury at the beginning of the trial of Anthony Driver, 36, and Luke Elliott, 22, who both deny murder and attempted murder.
