It's the BAFTA awards tonight - and several stars and programmes from our region are up for honours. Emmerdale is a contender for one of the awards. The programme's live episode last year to celebrate its 40th anniversary is thought to have been central to its nomination.

Actress Sheridan Smith, who was born in Epworth in Lincolnshire, gets her first BAFTA nomination, for leading actress, after her performance in ITV's Mrs Biggs.

Sean Bean, from Sheffield, is up for a leading actor gong for the Accused. And actor and TV presenter Michael Palin, who's also from Sheffield, is being presented with a BAFTA fellowship - the most prestigious award the Academy bestows.
