Chocolat author, Joanne Harris, has been made an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list. The Barnsley born novelist, who worked as a teacher before turning to writing said she was "surprised" when she found out about the honour.
The 48-year-old, who is married with one daughter, said she had not given much thought to her visit to the palace to accept the award, saying :"I'm only at the 'Shall I buy a hat?' stage."
