Street lights switched off to save council cash

Street lights in Leeds are to be switched off at certain times each night in a bid to save the council money.

The switch off will apply to around eight thousand of the city's 92 thousand street lights and is expected to save over 1 million pounds over the next 10 years.

Meanwhile, the council's executive board has also given the go ahead for Sunday and evening parking charges in Leeds city centre to be introduced to generate extra income
