Plans to turn the hard shoulder of the M1 in South Yorkshire into an extra lane have been criticised by emergency services. The Highways Agency wants some sections to have four lanes of running traffic twenty four hours a day.
But police and MPs are worried it could jeopardise safety and met with Transport Minister Stephen Hammond today to voice their concerns.
