Leeds forward Mitch Achurch has been ruled out for six weeks with a knee injury but should be back for the Super League play-offs after being told he does not need surgery.

The former Penrith second rower dislocated his kneecap and tore ligaments and a section of his quad muscle during last Friday's 19-18 defeat by Warrington.

Leeds coach Brian McDermott said: "Whilst eight weeks is a long lay-off for Mitch, it is good news that he will be back before the end of the season, especially for him personally as he has been showing his best form for us in recent weeks."
