Planned road closures during EDL rally

A number of roads will be closed in Sheffield on Saturday, during the planned rally by members of the English Defence League.

EDL members are expected to gather in Sheffield Lane Top. While the rally is taking place, police plan to close Buchanan Road and Elm Lane between 1pm and 4pm, along with Hatfield House Lane, from its junction with Barnsley Road and Shiregreen Lane.

The traffic order also applies to Stubbins Lane, Barnsley Road and Deerlands Avenue. However, police aim to keep disruption to residents, motorists and businesses to a minimum and will only close these roads if required.
