Football fans warned about M62 roadworks

Football fans heading to Elland Road for the match between Leeds United and Burnley are advised to allow extra time for their journey due to roadworks on the M62 between junction 26 (Chain Bar) and 27 (Gildersome).

Essential bridge repair work by the Highways Agency means the eastbound carriageway is reduced to two lanes and a 50mph speed limit in place.

This is essential work needed to repair the bridge’s damaged waterproof layer. We are carrying out the main work overnight during the weekend in order to minimise the disruption to drivers, but have to leave some traffic management in place during the day.

We recognise the extra impact these essential works will have on road users in the area, particularly if they are heading to tomorrow’s game at Elland Road. We advise drivers to plan their journeys around the area during the work as delays are likely. We are grateful for motorists understanding during these works and ask that they drive carefully through the roadworks and along the diversion routes.
