The new facility, known as City Library, will be housed in the building previously occupied by the Bradford 1 Gallery and a large unit next to it at City Park. The library will hold 60,000 books, 2,000 DVDs, 40 computers, range of newspapers and journals as well as study space and free WIFI.
To celebrate the official opening of the new building, which is taking place today, there will be a week long list of events including talks by authors like Susan Vickerman, poetry workshops and a special effects make-up demonstration.
