Huddersfield-born Luther Burrell is playing a starring role for England in rugby union's Six Nations competition. His try in yesterday's 20-0 Calcutta Cup victory over Scotland at Murrayfield followed the try he scored on his debut for his country in the opening game against France last week.
Burrell studied at All Saints Catholic College and Huddersfield New College He now plays his club rugby for Northampton, but began his career in the more modest surroundings of Lockwood Park Juniors and then Huddersfield RFL.
He made his senior debut for Leeds Carnegie at the age of 19 and appeared in 41 games for them. He also played rugby league for Huddersfield Giants and trained with the Leeds Rhinos. But he reverted back to the union code and eventually joined the Sale Sharks in 2011.
After yesterday's outstanding performance against Scotland, the Sunday Times rugby correspondent Stephen Jones described Burrell as "The Coming Man".
