Nottinghamshire Police hold two week gun amnesty

Police in Nottinghamshire are holding a two week amnesty appealing for people to hand in illegal weapons and ammunition.

It has been ten years since the last weapons amnesty was held following the shooting of 14 year old Danielle Beccan in St Anns, as she walked home from the Goose Fair.

The force says though gun crime in Nottingham has significantly reduced in recent years, they want to ensure there are less firearms on the street:
