Police chasing leads on Humberside fuel thefts

Humberside Police think they may be able to link together almost 30 fuel thefts across the region

One of the vans police are trying to trace

Since Monday 6 January, a Transit style van has been used to steal fuel from petrol station forecourts in South Cave, Beverley, Cottingham, Anlaby, Hessle, Woodmansey, Bridlington, Goole, Hull, Scunthorpe and Grimsby.

They think at least two vans have been used to commit the thefts, one white Trand the second silver.

On all occasions the vans have approached the forecourt of the petrol station, filled the vehicle up and driven away, without offering payment. They were all on a variety of false plates.

The unusual thing being that the majority of them took place at a number of petrol stations, quite literally, one straight after the other.

Officers are working to try and locate the offenders stealing the fuel, which totals over £3000. It is not known what is happening to the stolen fuel although its likely its being sold on.
