Police in York are hunting a robber, armed with a knife, who forced his way into a property, threatened to tie up a woman and her elderly mother, before forcing the daughter to withdraw a small amount of money from a cash machine at a nearby supermarket.
The robber targeted the women in the Layerthorpe area of the city between 4pm and 4.30pm on Sunday. Police say he forced his way past a woman in her 60s and into the property where her elderly mother was. He threatened to tie both up before forcing the younger woman to the cash machine at Asda.
The robber is a white male aged in his 20s to 40s, with dark close cut hair. He was wearing a grey top with navy arms and shoulders, navy jogging trousers and white trainers. He spoke with a local accent. He escaped on the woman's red Raleigh bicycle. The women are unharmed but "extremely shaken."
