A campaign to get more dads reading to their kids is being launched today with a special train service between Leeds and Nottingham.
Children's author Catherine Vase is performing a reading from classic children's books during the journey to inspire commuters to pick up storytelling duties when they get home.
One in three parents questioned in Leeds use funny voices and noises to make the story more fun and half of them ask advice from parents, grandparents, teachers and friends.
The survey was commissioned by the Independent reading and writing charity, Booktrust which interestingly saw that younger parents across the UK were less likely to read bedtime stories.
Of parents aged 16-24, 28 per cent voted reading a bedtime story to their pre-school child as their favourite part of their day compared to 42 per cent of parents aged 55 or more.
