Paul Blomfield, MP for Sheffield Central, has welcomed the completion of a new cycle hub at Sheffield station.
The new cycle hub which will be officially opened today includes spaces for 400 bikes, male and female changing rooms with shower facilities, a permanent cycle shop and hire and secure 24 hour access.
“The new bike hub at Sheffield station is great news for cyclists. The station is already a transport interchange for trains, trams and buses and the new cycle hub means that cycling is now fully integrated into the station, " said Mr Blomfield
I’m delighted to see the new hub open, nearly 5 years after the initial funding was announced by the last Labour Government. Well done to East Midlands Trains, Network Rail and everyone that has worked to create the hub and improve the facilities for cyclists at the station.
“The number of cyclists is increasing in Sheffield and I have no doubt that the hub will be well used by new and current cyclists. This is a great way to kick off a fantastic weekend of cycling in Sheffield.”
