Funeral takes place of fishermen's safety campaigner

The funeral has taken place this morning of a woman who spent much of her life fighting for better safety for fishermen.

Mary Denness - known as one of the headscarf revolutionaries - started campaigning after more than 50 men were killed in the triple trawler tragedy in 1968.

She died earlier this month aged 79.

Today around one hundred people including family and friends packed the St John the Baptist Church for her service.

This afternoon a celebration of her life will take place at the KCom stadium.
