Last night, players of that notorious team were brought back together at a reception hosted by Stoke’s Lord Mayor.
The squad won 2-1 over Chelsea in 1972 thanks to goals from Terry Conroy and George Eastham.
Gordon Banks, John Marsh, Mike Pejic, Mike Bernard, Dennis Smith, George Eastham, Jimmy Greenoff, John Mahoney, and Terry Conroy attended the reception last night.
The Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, councillor Terry Follows, said: "I remember watching the game and cheering them on against what was a very strong Chelsea team.
"It's hard to believe it has been forty years and with the club getting so close last season in the FA Cup, and still in this year's, I'm sure it won't be too long before the club brings home another trophy."
